Exchange 2007 Sp1 CCR  Event 1160 causes mailflow to stop
My exchange cluster has done this twice over the the weekend. I get hundreds even 1160 in the application log per minute. Log Name: Application Source: MSExchangeIS Date: 4/19/2010 9:10:15 AM Event ID: 1160 Task Category: General Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: exch1.domain.com Description: Database resource failure error 0xfffffc0b occurred in function JTAB_BASE::EcSetCurrentIndex while accessing the database "SG2\MBX1". Event Xml: <Event xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/win/2004/08/events/event"> <System> <Provider Name="MSExchangeIS" /> <EventID Qualifiers="49158">1160</EventID> <Level>2</Level> <Task>6</Task> <Keywords>0x80000000000000</Keywords> <TimeCreated SystemTime="2010-04-19T01:10:15.000Z" /> <EventRecordID>1242881</EventRecordID> <Channel>Application</Channel> <Computer>exch1.domain.com</Computer> <Security /> </System> <EventData> <Data>JTAB_BASE::EcSetCurrentIndex</Data> <Data>SG2\MBX1</Data> <Data>0xfffffc0b</Data> I fail over to node 2 and the mail flow returns but what is causing this error? I have found some other threads with this error talking about memory overload. Could someone provide more information?Jcon

Any Anti-virus or other 3rd party software installed on those servers? If so, you may want to disable and see if the errors go away.

HI, Please dismount the store and remount. Still can you see error 1160 in application log? Yes, this problem may occur if server has any performance degradation. So I suggest moving mailbox to a different server and checking whether problem is still persist or not. Also please run the EXBPA against the problematic server and check if there any problems. Running the EXBPA came back with the page file was not set to the Best Practice of RAM + 10MB. When looking at the Page file configuration i found that it was set to system managed and was only 1.7GB. Current Ram on the system is 8GB. I have initiated a break fix change on the server but have to wait for the Storage team to give me the space to increase the page file to 8202MB max. What is the significance of the page file being system managed? How will this effect the Exchange performance?? It seems to run fine when I fail over to the second node of the CCR cluster?Jcon

Plan of action to resolve this issue: 1. I am creating a monitor to look for the Even 1160 on MBX 1 and 2: This monitor will send an alert 2. I will temporarily increase the application log size from 40MB to 500MB to allow for adequate room to search the event logs for error leading up to the outage. 3. I will fail back Exchange from MBX2 to MBX1 and monitor the system very closely. 4. If the issues happens again I will have a better understanding of what is happening and how resolve. Jcon

I just had a very similar issue this morning. My resolution was to dismount the affected database and remount it. This appears to have resolved the issue. After investigating further I noticed that there was a recurring meeting that had been set up by one user in the DB and it became corrupted, the meeting was between two users on the same DB. I'm not sure if that was the root cause or a side effect of the db dismount/remount. I deleted the specific recurring meeting and had the user recreate it. Brian
